The happenings;
Hj.Razali gave a talk on 'Four way test'. He gave some illustration on putting the test to practical use. It was a unique tools used by Rotarian to assist in their activities.
PP Odzman gave encouragement for Rcbrians to turn RCKB as model by other Clubs,
Shah gave introduction talk on egroups and blog. He offered to share informations in future meet.

Joint Meeting and Weekend Program Group 12.

Title: An overnight adventure for Single parents and Children from broken homes.

Venue: Gracehill Orchard lodge, Bukit Tinggi.

Date: 12-13 Dec 2009.

Group 12 under AG Mansoor held joint meeting at this hill side lodge at the same time carried out a community project. Five Rotary Club took part name RC Damansara Utama, RC Shah Alam, RC USJ, RC Titiwangsa and RC Kampong Baharu. RC Kampong Baharu was represented by President Dr. Feardaus + family, PP Shah + family and Rtn. Aida+ family. Many Rckbrians would have participated if not for the weddings functions they have to attend.

Rtn. Aida's husband, Dr. Adam Abdullah gave a very interesting talk on "How to remain young". Who is not not interested in such topic (speaking from retiree perpective). Thank you Doc.

It was really a memorable occasion for all the participants. PP Janise of RC Damansra Utama did a wonderful job in making sure everything ran smoothly. The venue and the food may not be something to shout about but the company was great. With all the activities everybody became hungry easily and when you are hungry everything taste nice. To me it was 24 hours without mobile phones distraction and no internet. Can really unwind and keep the stress away.

After 13 years CP Hj.Razali brought back RCKB to visit her mother club RC Kuala Lumpur DiRaja. Of course the mother was very glad to see her child which she had sponsored on 13th November 1996. Most of us was not with the club then but CP Hj.Razali and VP Ruzman remained as two charter members.

It gave us an oppurtunity to observe how RC Kuala Lumpur DiRaja conducted their meeting. On the way back to KSS, Rtn.Izad was already talking of adopting some of the practices to make our weekly meeting more interesting.

There was a guest speaker from India giving a presentation on 'Thinking outside the box.'

Several Rotarians from overseas and AG mansoor was also present to lend colour to the occasion.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE SEMINAR.

Every year more than 8000 young people participate in this programme. They spend from 3 weeks up to 1 year living with foster families from all over the world. This is a unique way of enriching oneself with the diverse cultures found in this world.

Last Sunday 8th. November 2009 at Holiday Villa, Jalan Ampang, KL I attended IYE seminar to find out a bit more what IYE is all about.

This programme is open to youth between the age of 14 to 19. I was amazed to hear previous IYE participants sharing their experience with the audience. The was a Brazillian student who stayed for a year in Malaysia and at the end of his stay he managed to speak all the three languages, Malay, Chinese and Tamil. This really put us to shame.

100% improvement can be seen for the conduct of this week meeting. There was sharing of jokes, birthday annoucement, birthday cakes,  and wedding annivesary announcement. Thank you Izad for the extra effort. It is well appreciated by all. We can look ahead for more conducive meeting atmosphere, hopefully to generate creative ideas, otherwise we will just be putting on weight :-D

RC Kampong Baharu Hari Raya Open House.


On Saturday 10th October 2009 Rotary Club of Kampong Baharu held hari raya open house at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru from 1200 noon to 0400 pm.

About 250 people attended the function including 60 children and officials from Rumah Jagaan Lambaian Kaseh from Kampung Sungai Pencala, Kuala Lumpur . Among the guest were PDG Dato’ (Dr) Haji Mustapha Ma, AG Mansoor and Anne Zita.

In his welcome remarks President Dr.Feardaus congratulated CP Haji Razali Dato’ Rahmat, the Organising Chairman for taking such initiative in celebrating hari raya with less fortunate member of the community. He encouraged RC Kampong Baharu to make it an annual event.

Everybody was having fun with Rotarian taking turn in entertaining the guests. President Dr.Feardaus also took the opportunity to present certificate of appreciation to all volunteers who had participated in the Riang Raya Bersammu programme held few weeks ealier.

District Governor Leslie Salehuddin made his mandatory club visit to Rotary Club Kampong Baharu on the Wednesday 21st Oct 2009. He came on the dot at 0500 pm. He had an initial briefing by President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer over cup of tea at D'Alamo restaurant. AG Mansoor joined the group few minutes later.
The Club Assembly commenced at 0630 at the main conference room attendedby all the members and guests.
All the Board of Directors presented their plan for the year. DG Leslie suggested RCKB to adopt  CLP as soon as possible as that was the direction nthe district had taken.
The Club meeting followed at 0800pm where two new Rotarian were inducted bringing total number to 16. In his address DG congratulate RCKB for taking initiatives in revitalising the club by injecting new members. He would like to see RCKB to regain its glorious past when it was very active in providing services to the community.
The meeting end with dinner at D'Alamo restaurant.

Discussion mainly on preparation for the coming District Governor Leslie Salehuddin scheduled next Wednesday 21st Oct 2009. President request for all bods to submit their report for his compilation. During BOD meeting held it was agreed to invite (1)En. Samsudin bin Hassan Basri, mp: 019-337 3597 email: sam@srt-eon.com to become the 15th Rotarian of the club.(2)En.Ismail Daud, mp: tba to become the 16th Rotarian of the club. It was agreedto induct them during DG visit on the 21st. Oct 2009.
Hon. treasurer informed reminders regarding outstanding club dues had been sent to all. The club had updated its District dues and RI dues accordingly.

Induction of 14th Rotarian for Rotary Club Of Kampong Baharu.

On the 9th. Sept 2009 RC Kampong Baharu inducted her 14th member Dato' Sheqal, full name being Shariman Sallehudin. Dato' Sheqal is a man many talent. He is an entrepreneur extraordinary, totally at ease as motivator, facilitator, businessman and at one time a professional entertainer famous for his nusantara songs.

AG Mansoor was presence to welcome the new Rotarian. 9.09.09 is considered a lucky day many couples to tie the knots but for RCKB is a special day to remember as we welcome Dato' Sheqal to the club. To make it really unforgettable Dato' Sheqal acceptance speech
was in the form of poem (sajak) which he composed especially for the occasion.

RIANG RIA BERSAMA-MU 2009.
Project Riang Ria bersama-mu ini adalah merupakan projek tahunan bagi Kelab Rotary Kampong Baharu (kali ke-empat). Tujuan utama projek ini ialah untuk memberi peluang kepada kanak kanak yang kurang bernasib baik mengalami suasana keriangan menyambut hari raya aidilfitri. Diwaktu yang sama projek ini juga memberi pendedahan kepada sukarelawan melakukan kerja amal.

Pada tahun ini. 50 kanak kanak dari rumah Jagaan Lambaian Kaseh, Kampung Sungai Pencala telah dipilih untuk menyertai program ini. Pemilihan ini adalah berdasarkan kepada Rumah Jagaan lambaian kaseh tidak menerima bantuan secukupnya dari mana mana pehak. Kanak kanak yang tinggal dirumah ini juga merupakan dari gulongan miskin dan kurang mendapat perhatian dari orang ramai.

Pembiayaan projek ini adalah diatas sumbangan orang ramai dan Rotarian yang prihatin dengan kerumitan dan kesusahan yang dialami oleh pehak pengurusan Rumah Jagaan Lambaian kaseh semasa mengendalikan kerja harian. Mereka ingin melihat kanak kanak ini juga dapat menikmati kemeriahan menyambut Hari Raya Aidil Fitri seperti kanak kanak biasa.

Konsep program ini adalah, kanak kanak ini diberi peluang memilih dan membeli barangan seperti pakaian dengan ditemani oleh 30 orang sukarelawan yang menjadi ibu/bapa/abang/kakak angkat mereka diwaktu itu. Dengan kemesraan yang cuba diwujudkan adalah di harap kanak kanak ini dapat merasakan keriangan menyambut hari lebaran.

Pada tahun ini pehak GIANT HYPERMARKET telah bermurah hati memberi kerjasama menjayakan program ini dengan memberi sumbangan berupa voucer belian, buku dan juga hamper. Pegawai dari Syarikat tersebut juga turut membantu untuk majlis berjalan lancar walau pun terdapat ramai pelanggan lain pada hari itu.

Dari wajah air muka setiap kanak kanak yang mengambil bahagian jelas terbayang kegembiraan yang mereka nantikan sejak diberitahu yang mereka berpeluang membeli belah untuk hari raya ini. Yang membuat hati saya terguris ia lah apabila salah seorang dari anak tersebut bertanya boleh tak dibelikan satu baju kepada adeknya yang baru berumur enam tahun yang tidak dapat bersama kerana terlalu muda.

Majlis bertambah meriah apabila District Governor Leslie Salehuddin dan Puan Zeila turut serta pada acara penutup yang diadakan di depan pintu masuk Pasar raya Giant. Kehadiran sukarelawan yang begitu ramai ada lah diluar jangkaan dan mereka telah memainkan peranan mereka dengan begitu baik sekali. Semoga acara ini dapat diteruskan pada tahun berikutnya.
