RCKB Family Outing 2010.

A sub-committee has been formed to organise Family Outing. The members of the sub-committee as below;

Rumah Jagaan Lambaian Kasih.
On Sunday 30th. Jan. 2010 I accompanied President Dr.Feardaus and Rotarian Ismail to delivered some used furnitures from DG Leslie office to Rumah Jagaan Lambaian Kasih, Lot 2980, Kampung Sungai Pencala, Jalan Damansara. DG Leslie was moving to his new office so had some surplus furnitures. The funitures consist of tables, chairs, book racks, kitchen cabinet and three desktop computers. Ustaz Mustaffa Kamal (hp 013-9115584) was at hand to receive the items.
DG Leslie suggested that RCKB approached CIMB to get some fund to repair the orphanage as it was not in good condition. So RCKBrians lets make this as one of our future project.

Karaoke Competition.

 

District Fellowship Karaoke Competition 2009/2010   &   District Disaster Fund Raising.(23.1.10)
Aftermarth of the Sri Lankan civil war, many innocent children became war orphans. Some were maimed for life. Many unable to led normal life after the lengthy civil war. The purpose of the fund raising was to assist these victims. More than 150 Rotarians and their friends turned up to give their support. The function was held at Holiday Villa Ampang at courtesy of PDG Dato' Jimmy Lim.
Rotarians from RCKB turned up to support their contestant Rotarian Jamil Poniran who belted Engelbert Humperdick number - A Man Without Love. His performance received standing ovation from the crowd. Congratulation Rotarian Jamil eventhough you only won cosolation prize but we are very proud of you for keeping RCKB flag high. It was an excellent fellowship night where we met many Rotarians from the district.

RID 3300 Conference - day 2.
There were several good speakers on the second day. Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon, a former Rotarian spoke on 'PEMUDAH'. He was at one time President of Malaysia Mensa Society. What other credential do you need man. He explained very well why are we lagging behind Singapore in attracting investors. In fact we are behind many of our ASEAN comrades. So cut those red tapes.. potong.. potong habis lah.
PDG Mark was an excellent speaker too. He started by saying "I feel like as if I am coming home" with that kind of remark, of course the crowd like it.
After some waiting the VVIP arrived in spectacular ala millitary uniform. Tan Sri Khalid apologised for wearing wrong uniform and might have given wrong impression of Selangor being a Millitary State. You do not have to worry Tan Sri, we know who you are. You presence and support is more important than anything else. Tan Sri invited Rotarian to play active role in making Malaysia a great country to live in.

RC Kampong Baharu 1st. weekly meeting 2009.

Venue : Kelab Sultan Sulaiman.
Date : 6th.Jan 2009, Wednesday.

Rtn. Jamil gave his proposal for fund raising through golf tournament. It was well received and it was agreed to make it a main project for the 09-10 period. The proceeds should go toward establishing a dialysis centre for Kampong Baharu folks.
Dr.Feardaus presented pennants and cheque rm500 to Dr.Masitoh for her trip to Switzerland in May 2010. She is being sponsored by RCKB for the GSE team to Switzerland.

The happenings;
Hj.Razali gave a talk on 'Four way test'. He gave some illustration on putting the test to practical use. It was a unique tools used by Rotarian to assist in their activities.
PP Odzman gave encouragement for Rcbrians to turn RCKB as model by other Clubs,
Shah gave introduction talk on egroups and blog. He offered to share informations in future meet.

Joint Meeting and Weekend Program Group 12.

Title: An overnight adventure for Single parents and Children from broken homes.

Venue: Gracehill Orchard lodge, Bukit Tinggi.

Date: 12-13 Dec 2009.

Group 12 under AG Mansoor held joint meeting at this hill side lodge at the same time carried out a community project. Five Rotary Club took part name RC Damansara Utama, RC Shah Alam, RC USJ, RC Titiwangsa and RC Kampong Baharu. RC Kampong Baharu was represented by President Dr. Feardaus + family, PP Shah + family and Rtn. Aida+ family. Many Rckbrians would have participated if not for the weddings functions they have to attend.

Rtn. Aida's husband, Dr. Adam Abdullah gave a very interesting talk on "How to remain young". Who is not not interested in such topic (speaking from retiree perpective). Thank you Doc.

It was really a memorable occasion for all the participants. PP Janise of RC Damansra Utama did a wonderful job in making sure everything ran smoothly. The venue and the food may not be something to shout about but the company was great. With all the activities everybody became hungry easily and when you are hungry everything taste nice. To me it was 24 hours without mobile phones distraction and no internet. Can really unwind and keep the stress away.

After 13 years CP Hj.Razali brought back RCKB to visit her mother club RC Kuala Lumpur DiRaja. Of course the mother was very glad to see her child which she had sponsored on 13th November 1996. Most of us was not with the club then but CP Hj.Razali and VP Ruzman remained as two charter members.

It gave us an oppurtunity to observe how RC Kuala Lumpur DiRaja conducted their meeting. On the way back to KSS, Rtn.Izad was already talking of adopting some of the practices to make our weekly meeting more interesting.

There was a guest speaker from India giving a presentation on 'Thinking outside the box.'

Several Rotarians from overseas and AG mansoor was also present to lend colour to the occasion.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE SEMINAR.

Every year more than 8000 young people participate in this programme. They spend from 3 weeks up to 1 year living with foster families from all over the world. This is a unique way of enriching oneself with the diverse cultures found in this world.

Last Sunday 8th. November 2009 at Holiday Villa, Jalan Ampang, KL I attended IYE seminar to find out a bit more what IYE is all about.

This programme is open to youth between the age of 14 to 19. I was amazed to hear previous IYE participants sharing their experience with the audience. The was a Brazillian student who stayed for a year in Malaysia and at the end of his stay he managed to speak all the three languages, Malay, Chinese and Tamil. This really put us to shame.

100% improvement can be seen for the conduct of this week meeting. There was sharing of jokes, birthday annoucement, birthday cakes,  and wedding annivesary announcement. Thank you Izad for the extra effort. It is well appreciated by all. We can look ahead for more conducive meeting atmosphere, hopefully to generate creative ideas, otherwise we will just be putting on weight :-D
