Ushering the new year which commence from 1st July 2009 and end 30th June 2010, Rotary Club of Kampong Baharu was pleased to induct a new Rotarian to the club. Rotarian Jamil had been visiting the Club for quite some time and recent positive development in his family has allowed him to give his commitments as a Rotarian. Rotarian Jamil hold a senior management position with Bank Pembangunan. His expertise in property management/administration would greatly assist the club in future projects.

In his first speech Rotarian Jamil suggested few measures to make the weekly meeting more lively with maximum participation from all attendees. Excellence observation Rotarian Jamil, Rckbrians are indeed a boring lot when it come to fellowship. With or with out beer we shall strife to make every meeting a productive and memorable one. Welcome to the club Rotarian Jamil. (this remind me to bring few jokes for the next meeting)

Our table no.5 must be quite lucky that night since we won two of the lucky draw for the night. Earlier, three couples who had accepted our invitation had called to inform that they could not make it. That gave us extra lucky draw ticket which improved our chances mathematically.

The District Governor, Leslie gave a rousing and motivating speech to spur the Club members to work effectively for the next Rotary Year. My best wishes to you all and please take up the challenges ahead.

Wednesday 17th. June 2009 at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru.

Since moving to the new meeting venue at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, the members have been preparing for the Installation dinner. The long wait was paid off by a successful installation dinner which saw seven new members being inducted to the club.

The installation dinner was attended by 70 Rotarians, family members and friends. The guest list included Incoming District Governor Leslie Salehudin and Zeila, Incoming Asst. District Governor Mansoor Saat and outgoing Asst District Governor Michael S K Thung.

In his inaugural speech President Dr. Feardaus promised to revitalised the club activity and continue to recruit new members.

CP Hj.Razali introduced PP Ame Suwita from RC Medan who was also the guest speaker for the evening. She shared her experience encountered during the tsunami incident Dec 2004.

CP Hj.Razali updated all on District Assembly at Kuantan 17-19 April 2009 which was attended by PP Shah, PE Dr.Feardaus and Hj.Razali.

The hilite of the evening was the induction of Rotarian Pathma who was introduced by PE Dr.Feardaus. Welcome Rotarian Pathma to the Club. Rotarian Pathma is a practicing martial arts expert. We wish you all the best and looking forward to positive collaboration to serve the community.

75th RI District 3300 Assembly. (17-19 April 2009)

The Assembly was held in M.S. Garden Hotel, Kuantan Pahang. More than 600 Rotarian and their Annes attended the function which was officiated by Tengku Puan Pahang, Tunku Hajjah Azizah Aminah Maimunah.

It is one of the two main event in Rotary calendar year. The other one being District conference which was held in Ipoh early this year. The main event for this assembly is the installation of the 08-09 District Governor, DG Leslie Salehuddin and First lady Zeila.

During the assembly training for Rotary office bearers was also carried out. Three Rotarian from RC Kampung Baharu attended the function.

GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) Out bound team to South Korea.

One of the ROTARY important service to society is youth development. Group Study Exchange program is to expose Malaysian youth to foreign countries in order to broaden their personality.
The group normally consist of a team leader who is a senior Rotarian and four to six youth who have been working for at least three years. The trip to foreign countries may take from four to six weeks. During the trip the candidate will have an opportunity to see the hosting country. They would be able to see how their counterpart work in respective culture and environment. They too would act like ambassadors to introduce Malaysia to the hosting country. Candidates for the programme are chosen from list of applicants by a panel.

I had the opportunity to see this particular group rehearsing their presentation for the trip. I was surprised by their presentation in Korean language. I wish them all the best for their trip which will take place at the end of this month.

Rotary Club of Kampong Baharu Guest Day - 1st April 2009.

The crowd started to trickle in before 8pm and by the time President Elect Dr.Feardaus called the meeting to order, there were about 12 guest. As commented by CP Haji Razali, the crowd may be small in number but they made of people who were really interested to know more about Rotary movement. CP Haji Razali gave avery detail account of facts on Rotary, how it all started and the status of rotary movement to date. Refer below;

RCKB begin a new chapter today by having its weekly meeting at a new venue, Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru. According to CP Hj. Razali RCKB was chartered at this very club in 1996. The members were impressed by by the new facility. It is hoped that strategic location of this new venue would attract new members to join RCKB. (Note: RCKB was registered as 'Kampong Baharu', current the place is known as 'Kampung Baru')
RCKB will hold its 'Guest Day' at the new venue on the 1st April 2009, 0800pm.
All members are to bring their friends as guest on that day.

In the absence of President Roslan, the meeting was chaired by Rotarian Major Helmy. The members were enlightened by two RCKB sponsored Rylarian on RYLA 2009. Both found the seminar was beneficial and had assisted them in developing better personality. They encountered new experiences and meet many new friends of various nationalities.
